for Advanced Singers

Vox Integra Presents the Art of Bel Canto a new online course, live from the Palazzo Guarnieri, Feltre. August 20-22, 2020 with the distinguished artists Maestro Paolo Vaglieri and Maestro Mario Corradi.

Following the success of our recent, first ever, French Vocal Repertoire online course, we are thrilled to announce that we will be conducting an online course in Italian Opera direct from the Palazzo Guarnieri, Feltre from August 20 - 22, 2020. Even though we are unable to host singers in person this year, live streaming from the Palazzo will hopefully give you a sense of the magic of Feltre and whet your appetite for 2021’s staged opera scenes.

It is still an adventure for all of us, we’re learning a lot and enjoying this new process which is allowing us to explore a host of innovative possibilities! Join us as we continue our journey into

THE COURSE

The weekend’s focus is the Art of Bel Canto.

Previous courses have attracted singers from France, Germany, Switzerland, England, Hong Kong and America, and repertoire explored has ranged from Monteverdi to Cilea, from Mozart to Puccini.

The online course will have some new features including two lectures - one by Maestro Vaglieri on "the art of bel canto", with a particular focus on the works of Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti and including Verdi;

and another by Maestro Corradi, ‘Addio del passato?’ On the masterpieces of Italian opera libretti, which are often underrated and are sometimes referred to as “the children of a lesser God” (i figli di un dio minore). There will also be two specialised masterclasses given by the Maestri , repertoire to be performed should be taken from the above list of composers and include preceding recitatives where appropriate. Repertoire sung on the course should be written by the above list of highlighted composers. Piano accompaniments of chosen repertoire will be recorded by one of our tutors and sent to the singers ahead of the course.

Students will be asked to send a video of a performance before attending the course, which will be critiqued by the tutors. These personalised critiques will be sent to each singer privately and individually. Aspects of selected videos may then be used publicly during one of the masterclasses to discuss various themes and issues.

Besides these new features, the course also provides: One-to-one diagnostic sessions tailored to each individual singer on technique, interpretation and body work. Individual work will then be further explored in the performance masterclasses.

Another new feature for the first evening of the course will be a virtual social gathering in the form of a “masterclass” in Italian cooking - to be held by a surprise teacher in a local Feltre kitchen!

Although online workshops can never replace a live interactive experience, we will still do our utmost to offer a holistic, Vox experience.

The course will culminate in a virtual concert on Saturday evening.

Our Philosophy and  What Participants Can Expect

Of course an online experience cannot be the same as a live workshop. However, during this difficult time, we strongly believe that we can still take advantage of the online/virtual experience to continue to support our singers, as well as our artistic team. We believe that it’s our obligation to do everything possible to continue to work, to sing and to learn.

This year’s artistic team was created to give Vox participants the highest degree of professionalism and rigour with the greatest amount of support. Our team of experienced professionals in the field is guaranteed to impart invaluable learning to each participant.

Vox participants range in levels from talented and passionate amateurs to experienced singers exploring ongoing professional development.

In order that everyone has the maximum 1-2-1 attention, course numbers will be strictly limited.

Our artistic team has the expertise and experience necessary to inspire and bring the best out of each singer.

Our focus is individual development and transformation. What’s important to us is your specific journey and growth, allowing you to realise your full potential. Every singer, can expect tuition of
the highest professional standard. In turn, we expect a reciprocal professional attitude - music must be prepared to a high standard before the start of the course, punctuality, team work, dedication to the tasks at hand, and participation in all group exercises.

We value collaboration and team work among all singers. Opera, is often described as the total art form and is the culmination of a huge collaborative effort that requires cooperation, empathy and
discipline from all players.

We expect everyone to support each other’s work and development.
